This photo really hits home. These vehicles are part of the ongoing effort to rebuild after the St. Louis tornado, a storm I experienced firsthand.⁣ ⁣ I was in the Central West End filming an interview when the tornado hit. It was my first tornado, and even though I knew they were dangerous, nothing prepared me for actually living through one.⁣ ⁣ When I stepped outside, I was shocked. Debris everywhere. Trees down. Buildings damaged. Bricks on top of cars. I couldn’t believe my car was spared. Only 4 cars, mine and the others around it, in a small strip of the street were undamaged. And as I drove home, I kept seeing more and more destruction street after street. It was heartbreaking and I was so grateful to be driving home. ⁣ Recovery is still happening and while there’s a long way to go, it’s encouraging to see these crews out there, showing up every day to help piece things back together. ⁣ #StLouisStrong #TornadoRecovery #AfterTheStorm #CentralWestEnd #StormSurvivor #RebuildInProgress #GratefulForTheHelpers #johnlorephotoandvideo
